Is it FASD or something else?

Navigating the Overlap

Understanding the complexities of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASDs) and other neurodevelopmental disorders can be challenging for both healthcare professionals and families.

Texas FASD Network is dedicated to helping you navigate these overlapping diagnoses with clarity and confidence. This chart, developed by Cathy Bruer-Thompson and Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (MOFAS), can help families and providers better understand the significant overlap in behavioral characteristics across mental/behavioral health diagnoses.

Although not a screening tool, this chart could be useful when considering your child’s behaviors. You could also take a copy to your child’s doctor, highlighting the commonalities across disorders as you share your concerns.
